A teacher who sees the whole learner

Sweetie Berry grew up in Gurdon, Arkansas and Camden Arkansas where the tall pines grow. One of three children, she quickly learned that every child learns differently.

A low vision learner, she grew up to become an educator with specialities in minds with learning disabilities, gifted , and twice exceptional abilities. She personally sees differently yet has graduated with a Masters and post graduate work in the areas of Mathematics, Special Education and Gifted Education.

She has taught for over forty years in public schools, private schools and leading homeschoolers as an expert teacher. She has been teacher of the year in Texas, named a Golden Apple aware winner in the Dallas area, and has written curriculums for national testing as well as publishers.

Mrs Berry is a high energy, creative educator and she loves to see children thrive. Her work includes developing programs for inner city youth in a federally run school, teaching rural children in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Alaska. Teaching inner city youth in Dallas, as well as working with area universities to support teacher training.

She presently makes her home in Kansas, Oklahoma where she lives with her husband Les, a Bureau of Indian Affairs administrator and their two dogs, Grumps and Charlie and their cat, Marley.

Her grown children are in the area and each had their own form of neurodivergence or learning disabilities. Each are now professionals in their own fields successfully.
